Woe to you,
Teachers of the law and Pharisees,
You hypocrites!
You give a tenth of your spices—
Mint, dill and cumin.
But you have neglected
The more important matters of the law—
Justice, mercy and faithfulness.
You should have practiced the latter,
Without neglecting the former.
You blind guides!
You strain out a gnat
But swallow a camel.
Matthew 23:23-24
Jesus accuses the Pharisees of being hypocrites, or someone who wears a mask.
Since tomorrow is Halloween, I have to ask: Are you wearing a mask? Are you a hypocrite?
This week we have part two of a three-week study of unity in Christ and the issue of racism. Last week we looked at the roots of racism and this week we look at our hypocritical attitudes, both as individuals and as a group.
